From May 2–5, 2025, the town of Traralgon, Victoria, warmly welcomed Lions and Leos from all over Australia for the 73rd Lions Multiple District 201 Convention. It was a friendly and inspiring few days filled with connection, celebration, and shared purpose.
The convention kicked off with a lively welcome at the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre, where visitors enjoyed Lions project displays, local entertainment, and plenty of opportunities to catch up with old friends, or make new ones.
One of the highlights was a keynote speech by Pat Farmer, the ultra-marathon runner known for his incredible charity runs. His stories of endurance and giving back set the tone for a convention full of heart.
In that same spirit, Lions volunteer Sari-Elle Kraemer completed an 85 km run from Licola to Traralgon to raise awareness and funds for the Licola Wilderness Village, Licola Wilderness Village a not-for-profit camp and the gateway to the Alpine National Park. Sari-Elle attended a camp held for youth and was inspired to raise funds to support the Lions youth camp.
CaringKids presented the impact of the Lions in Support of CaringKids charity Project, with more than 230 Lions Club and 4 Leos clubs supporting the project, over $175,000 has been donated for the creation of Joy Boxes!
Throughout the weekend, the Lions Expo booth display gave projects the chance to share our work, including Lions Hearing Dogs presentation, Lions Youth of the Year Awards, programs in support of disaster relief childhood cancer, the Lions Mobility Foundation and more.
Attendees joined in workshops, presentations, and networking sessions, all with a focus on making a difference in their communities.
The event wrapped up with a High Country-themed gala dinner at Kernot Hall.
As always, the convention was a reminder of what Lions do best – bringing people together to serve, support, and uplift others. Everyone left with fresh ideas, renewed friendships, and excitement for next year’s gathering in Adelaide 2026.
