Coogee Lions Club began supporting CaringKids in 2019 and since that time CaringKids became a Lions district and national project.
Coogee is a beachside suburb located in Sydney NSW. The Coogee Lions Club is a vibrant group of locals led by Co-President Sari-Elle Kramer and Frank Ansell. In February, Coogee Lions had their first monthly meeting of the year, and what a fantastic night it was! Guests were invited to come along and learn more about Lions and the Club has since welcomed new members.
Coogee Lions will be celebrating their 20th Anniversary later this year, with many local charities and projects supported over the years, including CaringKids, the anniversary celebration will be an opportunity to reflect on the many achievements of Coogee Lions Club to date.
Lions create miracles through service. As Australia’s largest volunteer service organisation Lions have the ability and willingness to support local, national and international humanitarian causes and make an impact.
CaringKids CEO Margaret Skagias is a proud member of Lions Club of Coogee, joining Coogee Lions in 2019 after learning more about the impact of Australia’s largest volunteer service organisation. Last year Margaret was awarded a Lion Star Award by Past District Governor Elvio Munzone OAM, awarded for those who have rendered deserving services to their clubs or communities.
The CaringKids Lions story has ensured more young carers are supported each year, with 800 young carers receiving a Joy Box last year, and the goal to create and deliver 900 Joy Boxes this year. 221 Lions Clubs have supported CaringKids since 2023, and 4 Leo’s Clubs have also made generous contributions. We thank all the Lions and Leo’s Clubs for recognising and bringing joy to young carers.

Coogee Lions 1st 2025 meeting
In February 2025 Coogee Lions held their first meeting of the year, and what a fantastic night it was! 🦁✨ It was wonderful to see so many fresh faces eager to learn more about what Coogee Lions do and how they support the community.
A big welcome to all new members! 🎉 And a special thank you to Past District Governor Elvio Munzone for presenting International President’s Pins to the incredible Secretary Michelle McInnes and Coogee Lions member Jo O’Brien who is such a incredible supporter of the club. Jo is the Owner of Platinum Preschool, which generously provides the vouchers for the Sunday raffles at Coogee Bay Hotel.
