Joy Makers Workshop Celebrates Young Carers During National Carers Week
In celebration of National Carers Week (12–18 October 2025), young carers aged 16 – 25 gathered at our toy workshop to take part in a special Joy Makers Workshop, organised in partnership with The Benevolent Society – Carer Gateway.
The event brought together young carers and referral partners to spread joy to younger carers. Participants carefully filled Joy Boxes with fun and educational games, toys, and sports equipment for carers aged 4 to 12.
The workshop was filled with laughter and smiles as everyone joined in the spirit of giving.
Thanks to generous support from Carers NSW via the Carers Week Grant, and to Ollie Taufa, Young Carer Coordinator & Client Support Partner at The Benevolent Society, we were able to host young carers at our new toy workshop, sharing lunch and conversations together.
We can’t wait to have young carers back at the workshop soon!
Carers Week is a time to recognise and celebrate the contribution of Australia’s three million unpaid carers, and this event showed how community partnerships help spread JOY – one box at a time.
